Is developing a highly available secure infrastructure right for your business?
Back-end infrastructures come in all shapes and sizes: from simple single-server solutions, to auto-scaled fleets of servers across multiple regions. But what's the difference between developing a simple infrastructure and a more complex one, and which is right for your business?
When is a more complex infrastructure needed?
When service uptime is critical to the business, it is important that the infrastructure is design to support this. If downtime can cause lost revenue, investing in infrastructure can help to mitigate this risk.
If dealing with sensitive customer data, your business is responsible for keeping it secure. Developing a secure infrastructure can prevent data breaches, avoiding liability and the associated costs.
Services with highly variable traffic with peaks/surges at certain times, both expected and unexpected, can benefit from having an automatically scaling infrastructure. A sudden surge in demand can cause service downtime, which can negate the benefit of a marking opportunity, for example.
When will a simple infrastructure be sufficient?
